Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad Corporate Headquarters

Fort Worth, TX

Burlington Northern Santa Fe’s corporate campus reflects the industrial railroad vernacular, combining the simplicity of Fort Worth’s brick warehouses and the prairie’s immense concrete silos with the requirements of a 140,000-square-foot, high-tech network control center. A grand, round-arched entrance evokes the brick architecture of old railroad terminals. The long east-west wings of the 80,000-square-foot office building create narrow courtyards that limit solar penetration in the summer and provide protection from the winter’s north winds. Mid-century passenger cars in the entry plaza provide meeting facilities and guest accommodations.
