The client wanted a house with a studio for working on her own sculpture and good walls to exhibit her large collection of contemporary art. The site, bordered on one side by an old allee of oak trees and on the other by a large sculpture garden, was organized into a series of courtyards. A main gallery encircles a large sculpture court with large walls for art and high clerestory windows. Light is brought into the house in a variety of ways, thorough clerestories, shaded monitors, and cupolas.
