This building was designed for the corporate division of a heavy equipment company. The metal, barn-like forms draw from the general vocabulary of the machine sheds located elsewhere on the 15-acre campus. The plan creates two courtyards around existing oak treesone for antique tractors and the other for sculpture. The porches and cupolas act as large shading devices for the glass-enclosed hallways. To control cost and expedite construction, the building was designed with a prefabricated steel frame and simple detailing.
