House of Light
Santa Fe, NM
The house is centered upon the intersection of two distinct spaces. The introspective tall gallery has no external views. Indirect natural light washes its north wall and is balanced by reflected light off the adobe wall. The extroverted long room has views to the south, west, and north through tall doorways and low windows. A bridge overlooking the solar greenhouse travels across the sunken gallery of the tall room and along the curving adobe wall, linking the bedroom to the long living space. The client says "she's happy to be living with her art in a house filled with light."
