To improve the theatre-going experience, the University of Houston commissioned Lake|Flato to create a new front door for the Wortham Theatre. The renovation created a new public reception hall, added two large rehearsal classrooms, and provided a second-story office suite for the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts. The design solution visually integrates the School of Theatre into the Fine Arts Quadrangle with bold architectural forms and animates the academic programs by revealing glimpses of activity through the frosted glass walls.
