Adie Hailat
AIA
Associate
After spending three years traveling and working in 11 countries across South and Central America, Europe, and Africa, Adie joined our Learning Studio, where he hopes to implement multifaceted design that responds to the environment and culture of a place while ensuring functionality and sustainability. Adie considers himself a citizen of the world; he was born and raised in Jordan and later moved to South Carolina, where he received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Clemson University. After working in North Carolina for six years, Adie began a three year journey seeking to connect with different cultures both personally and architecturally. During that time, he worked in Mexico, Colombia and France, and spent time studying and constructing projects that utilized ancient techniques of vernacular adobe construction in Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil. Adie is a firm believer that our ancestors intrinsically built sustainably, and that many of their forgotten passive techniques— combined with modern technology— can help us construct intelligent and conscious spaces. Outside of the architectural world, Adie enjoys playing soccer, exploring new cultures through travel, and learning new languages— he is fluent in Arabic, English, Spanish, Portuguese and French.
