Braulio Hurtado Jr.

Architect II

Since becoming an architect, Braulio has followed his passion for crafting buildings rooted in place and context. Prior to joining Lake Flato, Braulio worked in Austin on a variety of project scales including multi-family residential, office, and educational buildings. After receiving his Bachelor of Environmental Design from Texas A&M University, Braulio earned his Master of Architecture at the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Braulio was born and raised along the Texas-Mexico border where his strong love for his heritage and culture shaped his identity and informs his interest in cultivating the connection between people and the built environment.

Through his participation with the Latinos in Architecture Committee in Austin, Braulio has helped lead various programs including Las Piñatas, Perspectivas, and Nepantla: tierra entre medio | space in-between, which consisted of a collection of temporary art installations that focused on recapturing the history, culture, and heritage of the Latino community in East Austin.
