Matt Cooper

AIA, LFA

Architect II

Matt’s background as a furniture designer/maker and a residential carpenter have given him a deep appreciation for how important the ‘joinery’ of a building is to its success architecturally. While earning his Master of Architecture at the University of New Mexico, he had the opportunity to travel throughout Japan, seeing first-hand the elegance of both the traditional and modern buildings there. His concerns in architectural practice now center around the pressing issues of climate change and how the profession can best respond. Matt is a licensed architect in Texas and New York.

When not working in the Lake Flato residential studio, he and his wife are either hard at work rehabbing their new old bungalow in San Antonio’s River Road neighborhood or out exploring their new home state of Texas.
