Urvi Varma
Designer
Urvi is a designer in the Eco Conservation Studio at Lake Flato. She believes deeply in the concept of “sense of place”. She strives to design spaces that evoke sensory experiences by harmonizing with the natural elements- trees, water, wind, sun and the changing seasons. Urvi developed her interest in climate and context-responsive architecture while earning her Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from MS University in India. She has worked in Bangalore, India and Chicago on various projects, from private residential design to institutional construction administration and documentation. She further refined her expertise with a Master’s in Architecture, concentrating on Building Performance at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Traveling has profoundly influenced Urvi’s design philosophy; her explorations of vernacular and contemporary architecture in India and Japan have enriched her understanding. In her free time, you can find her reading, binge-watching shows, or strumming her ukulele.
