Canyon Ranch Austin
Since its founding in 1979, Canyon Ranch has been a trailblazer in integrative wellness. Canyon Ranch Austin is the brand’s first ground-up resort and residential community. Lake Flato guided site selection and master planning for the property’s 1.7-mile Lake Travis frontage, shaping a campus that unfolds as a serene journey through meadows, ponds, and escarpments. The 280,000-square-foot resort includes 141 guestrooms, a 44,000-square-foot spa—the largest in Texas—and a series of ranch-inspired courtyards and gathering spaces that blend indoor and outdoor living. Complementing the resort, the Ranch Home Collection offers private residences designed to harmonize with the landscape and the Canyon Ranch ethos of well-being.

Lake Flato played a key role in the selection and master planning of a remarkable 600-acre site for Canyon Ranch’s first ground-up resort and residential community. Located along 1.7 miles of Lake Travis, the resort is anchored by an existing seven-acre pond that serves as a centerpiece of the property.
The ranch program consists of the 280,000-square-foot resort, including a 37,000-square-foot Ranch House with a reception lobby, meeting space, and the Estella restaurant; 141 guestrooms; a 44,000-square-foot spa/salon (the largest in Texas); the 22,000-square-foot Wellspring, which houses health and performance offerings; and a 50,000-square-foot fitness and movement center, The Barn. Additional programs include the Flying X Cafe and resort pool, a canopied lap pool, tennis, pickleball, and paddle courts, and administrative offices.
The campus is organized around a series of courtyards to maximize connections to the landscape, while the buildings’ low scale and gable-shaped roof forms evoke a residential, ranch-like feel. Guests first arrive at the Ranch House and its welcoming porch—the social heart of the resort— adjacent to the Rendezvous lounge, which features indoor and outdoor fireplaces and sweeping views of the pond and the Longfield Look meadow, planted with native grasses and heritage hardwoods.
The 141 guestrooms are housed in three three-story bars—the Juniper, Mesquite, and Persimmon Lodges—aligned along a natural inlet and oriented toward the hillside. Generous outdoor courtyards and screened porches further strengthen connections to the land.
Wellness Program Journey
The spa, multiple pools, outdoor class spaces, and meditation moments were all designed to offer restful, contemplative environments for guests to enjoy. At the heart of the campus, the spa provides opportunities for relaxation, wellness-focused treatments, and swimming in the indoor pool.
On-site fitness and mind-and-spirit centers provide year-round wellness programming and counselling to support guests on their personal health journeys. Miles of hiking and biking trails weave through the campus, complemented by intimate gathering spaces and activity areas that blend seamlessly into the Hill Country landscape.
The spa, pools, outdoor class spaces, and meditation areas were designed to provide restful, contemplative environments for guests. At the center of the campus, the spa offers a full suite of treatments along with an indoor pool.
