Velocity Texas

San Antonio, TX

The Texas Research and Technology Foundation (TRTF) redevelopment on San Antonio’s Eastside will be an integrated live, work, play and create complex occupying the former Merchant’s Ice and Cold Storage Company campus. The former facility, made up of six buildings constructed between 1909 and 1957, was once the second largest refrigerated warehouse in Texas, ultimately ceasing operations in 1999. In collaboration with landscape architecture firm DWG, Lake|Flato was appointed to redevelop the historic campus into a five-building complex utilizing more than 200,000sf of built-out space on nearly five acres. The project’s vision is to make a positive community impact by creating a campus incorporating partnering ventures and other commercial tenants leasing from TRTF to build a hub of life sciences, FinTech, cybersecurity and emerging technologies. The redevelopment will feature a multi-building innovation center, a boutique hotel, an event center, office and lab space, residential apartments, an outdoor plaza and greenspace.
