To create an iconic warehouse for this steel service center, Lake|Flato showcased steel detailing, including sunscreens created with steel angles and galvanized Z purlins. The 600’ x 275’ x 30’ tall warehouse/crane building is a steel, exoskeleton frame with 6” tilt-slab concrete panels attached to the back of the steel columns. The winged roof of the office/showroom provides daylight from above and references the facility’s “tarmac” location on the decommissioned Kelly Air Force Base.
